Day 1 Arrival Kermanshah
You arrive at the airport of Kermanshah. You will be picked up by our local representative and taken to your hotel.Day 2 Kermanshah - Howraman-e Takht
A wonderful journey through the mountains of Kurdistan is in the program for today. The landscape on the way to Paveh is quite hilly. Paveh is the largest city that you will pass. Then you continue on a beautiful mountain road with spectacular views. You travel along the border with Iraq and you can see Iraqi Kurdistan.Ouraman is a region in Iranian Kurdistan on the border with Iraq. The highest village is Ouraman e Takht, where you will spend the night. After a few hours you drive into the valley of Howraman e Takht, a beautiful valley with a beautiful Kurdish village. On the outskirts of the village there is an ancient spiritual site where celebrations which have nothing to do with Islam still occur regularly. There are many ribbons in the trees, something you also encounter in other religions.
The rest of the day you have time to stroll around the village, where you will be greeted everywhere by friendly Kurds. Visit the mosque and the small bazaar. You’ll spend the night in a simple hotel on the outskirts of the village.
Day 3 Howraman e Takht - Sanandaj via Marivan and Negel
In the morning you can explore the village or take a stroll in the valley. Then you will drive to Marivan, a large lake located near the border. This lake is a popular place for picnics. Here you will find a lot of seafood restaurants. Across the lake you can see Iraq. You then continue to Sanandaj, stopping in Negel along the way. One of the oldest Korans in the world is in the mosque here. You arrive in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan, sometime in the afternoon.
Day 4 Sanandaj
Sanandaj is a town without major attractions, but it is worth spending a day walking around here. You should definitely visit the bazaar, where you will be impressed by men in baggy trousers and women in cheerful floral dresses and headscarves. If you are interested in learning more about Kurdish culture, be sure to visit the Asef Mansion, a former merchant’s home that has been turned into a museum for Kurdish culture. In another trading house you will find the regional museum and Sanandaj also has an imposing Friday Mosque.
Day 5 Sanandaj - Kermanshah via Palangan and Takht-e Bustan
Today you continue to travel through the Kurdish landscape. You leave the Kamyaran highway and drive about an hour to Palangan, a beautiful village with houses piled against a mountainside, a fantastic sight. Stroll through the village and meet the friendly Kurdish population.Palangan is one of the most characteristic villages of Iran. The two halves of the village are built on a mountain slope, and a river flows between the two halves of the village. Enjoy the cool shade on the bank and try one of the many restaurants that line the river. They serve delicious fish! From Palangan it is a two-hour drive to Kermanshah where you can visit the bas-reliefs of Taq-e Bostan that date from the Sassanian era.
